<p><strong>Maintaining Underwater Glass Lenses: A Guide to Prevent Stains and Ensure Longevity</strong></p>

<p>Underwater photography relies heavily on specialized equipment, and one of the most critical components is the glass lens. These lenses, crafted from low-dispersion optical-grade glass, offer exceptional clarity and performance when diving with them in front of your camera lens. Enhanced with anti-reflective coatings, these wet-lenses minimize optical challenges such as chromatic aberrations, spherical aberration, and field deformation, ensuring good underwater macro photography results. Housed in rugged, anodized aluminum casings and nitrogen-purged to prevent fogging, these lenses are built to withstand the harsh underwater environment. However, proper maintenance is essential to preserve their performance and lifespan.</p>

<p><strong>Why Proper Maintenance Matters</strong></p>

<p>Despite their robust design, underwater lenses are vulnerable to staining if not cared for correctly. When water – even fresh water – dries on the glass surface, it can leave mineral deposits and stains that are difficult to remove. These deposits can interfere with the lens coatings, compromising the image quality and potentially damaging the glass over time. To keep your lenses in pristine condition, it’s crucial to adopt an effective cleaning routine.</p>

<p></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img decoding="async" src="https://desk.zoho.eu/DocsDisplay?zgId=20066489187&amp;mode=inline&amp;blockId=0gw4j88eb7d6ae6da47f7b4130681c5f016a6" alt=""/></figure>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img decoding="async" src="https://desk.zoho.eu/DocsDisplay?zgId=20066489187&amp;mode=inline&amp;blockId=0gw4j8d082820b8634676b26c616618ad6dde" alt=""/></figure>

<p>If your glass lens has been stained, it is unlikely you can clean the glass again.<br>You then need to get the front lens changed.</p>

<p></p>

<p><strong>Best Practices for Cleaning Underwater Glass Lenses</strong></p>

<ol start="1" class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong>Rinse Immediately After Use</strong><br>After completing your dive, rinse the lens thoroughly with fresh water. This step removes salt, sand, and other debris that could scratch or stain the lens. Using lukewarm water is particularly effective in dissolving salt crystals. (not too warm, and NO soap must be used)</li>

<li><strong>Dry Completely with a Synthetic Fiber Cloth</strong><br>Drying is as critical as rinsing. Use a synthetic microfiber cloth, which is both soft and absorbent, to gently remove all water from the lens. This step ensures no water remains to evaporate and leave behind mineral stains.</li>

<li><strong>Avoid Air Drying</strong><br>Never allow water to dry naturally on the lens. As it evaporates, minerals in the water can crystallize on the surface, causing stains and potentially harming the delicate coatings.</li>

<li><strong>Inspect for Streaks or Residues</strong><br>Once dry, inspect the lens under light to ensure no streaks or water spots remain. If you notice any, re-clean with a damp microfiber cloth and dry thoroughly.</li>
</ol>

<p><br><strong>Pro Tips for Long-Term Lens Care</strong></p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong>Invest in a Lens Cap</strong><br>Protect your lens when it’s not in use by always securing a lens cap. This simple step prevents accidental scratches and keeps debris away from the glass.</li>

<li><strong>Store in a Safe Environment</strong><br>Store your lens in a cool, dry place, ideally in a protective case. This minimizes exposure to humidity and physical damage.</li>

<li><strong>Avoid Abrasive Materials</strong><br>Never use abrasive cloths, tissues, or cleaning agents that could scratch or degrade the glass surface.</li>
</ul>

<p><br><strong>The Impact of Good Maintenance</strong></p>

<p>By following these straightforward yet effective cleaning practices, you ensure your underwater glass lens remains free of stains and scratches, allowing you to capture clear and vibrant images dive after dive. Proper maintenance not only preserves the performance of the lens but also extends its lifespan, saving you the cost of premature glass replacements. Remember, the key to great underwater photography starts with pristine optics. Take care of your lens, and it will take care of your memories.</p>

<p>If you still get a faulty lens it is possible to exchange the glass. But it is not cheap as the lens is full of nitrogen and needs to get refilled under completely dry conditions.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Nauticam D6 underwater housing</h2>

<p>Nauticam housings are constantly evolving and applying lessons learned from earlier systems to the new models. The Nauticam NA-D6 addresses its predecessor and builds on the lessons of the NA-D5. With new and enhanced ergonomics, a more sophisticated flash triggering system along with the reduced size and weight.</p>

<p>Nauticam recognizes that its users wanted and needed easy access through the handles for the most effective dive shoot (ISO, record, playback, and info that was accessible via grip controls).</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Mission Control</h3>

<p>Nauticam developed the NA-D6 according to the Mission Control philosophy, in which the most frequently used controls are within reach of the ergonomic handles. The NA-D6 has double thumb levers on the back of the housing that trigger the camera&#8217;s AF-ON and REC buttons on the right and PLAYBACK / INFO on the left. There are also easily accessible levers for ISO and the &#8216;Pv&#8217; control near the right-hand grip. Compared to the NA-D5 Nauticam improved usability. They redesigned this version by placing a double-action lever for the customizable &#8216;Fn1&#8217; and &#8216;Fn2&#8217; buttons on the front of the camera.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/nad6-17225-nauticam-d6-housing_9.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="768" src="https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/nad6-17225-nauticam-d6-housing_9.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2576" srcset="https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/nad6-17225-nauticam-d6-housing_9.jpg 1024w, https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/nad6-17225-nauticam-d6-housing_9-300x225.jpg 300w, https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/nad6-17225-nauticam-d6-housing_9-768x576.jpg 768w, https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/nad6-17225-nauticam-d6-housing_9-125x94.jpg 125w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Flash Triggering</h3>

<p>The NA-D6 comes with a pre-installed manual LED flash trigger that enables reliable flash triggering for most optically triggered external underwater flashes. A TTL version of the flash trigger (<a href="https://fotografit.eu/products/164-flash-triggers/2385-ttl-converter-for-nikon-compatible-with-na-d5d500d850z7/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">26308</a>) is also available to allow automatic exposure control with compatible flashes.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">HDMI &amp; Ethernet</h3>

<p>The connection to external monitors via HDMI or external controls via Ethernet is made possible by the bulkheads of the NA-D6. The housing has M28 and M14 bulkheads on the front and an M16 on the rear.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Optics and Accessoires</h3>

<p>The Nauticam N120 port system supports a wide variety of Nikon F-mount lenses, with both optical glass and acrylic port options. The NA-D6 can also take advantage of Nauticam water contact optics, such as WACP-1, <a href="https://fotografit.eu/products/206-wetlenses---nauticam/4180-wacp-2---057x-wide-angle-conversion-port---2---140-deg-fov-with-compatible-14mm-lenses/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">WACP-2</a>, <a href="https://fotografit.eu/products/206-wetlenses---nauticam/1399-nauticam-super-macro-converter-smc-1/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">SMC-1</a> and <a href="https://fotografit.eu/products/206-wetlenses---nauticam/2373-nauticam-super-macro-convertor-2-4x-magnification-smc-2/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">SMC-2</a>. They are designed to deliver the highest possible image quality underwater for both wide-angle and macro. Nauticam&#8217;s magnifying viewfinders are available in both 45º and 180º versions. They make the D6&#8217;s large, bright optical viewfinder easier to use and can be installed in minutes without tools.</p>

<p></p>

<p>AOI has announced the launch of its first flash unit: the <strong>Ultra Compact Strobe Q1 (<a href="https://fotografit.eu/products/17-strobes---flash/5373-aoi-q1-ultra-compact-strobe-/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">UCS-Q1</a>)</strong>. They designed this entry-level strobe with simplicity in mind.</p>

<p>The AOI Q1 underwater compact strobe features a built-in 700-lumen continuous light with three power settings, which can be used for macro photography, as a focus light, as well as a dive torch.</p>

<p>It also offers a modeling flash function, which fires a short burst of flashes to help users aim and position the strobe as desired (especially useful when using a snoot). The strobe has a non-removable ball arm and comes with a diffuser, which provides a beam angle of 85°.&nbsp;</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Beginner-friendly underwater strobe</h2>

<p>The AOI design team kept in mind what the users wanted; ‘simplicity’. So, especially first-time strobe users and owners of an entry level set-up will have fun with the AOI Q1.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/AOI-q1-strobe-flash_1.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="680" src="https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/AOI-q1-strobe-flash_1-1024x680.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2553" srcset="https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/AOI-q1-strobe-flash_1-1024x680.jpg 1024w, https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/AOI-q1-strobe-flash_1-300x199.jpg 300w, https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/AOI-q1-strobe-flash_1-768x510.jpg 768w, https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/AOI-q1-strobe-flash_1-1536x1020.jpg 1536w, https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/AOI-q1-strobe-flash_1.jpg 1627w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a></figure>

<p>With just two buttons and a single knob the control panel of the strobe is kept simple. The knob controls the power setting. The maximum brightness is at number 7 or the equivalent of Guide Number 22. Keeping the strobe to only manual function means that when used with an automatic compact camera, it is easy to obtain the desired the brightness. You can easily adjust the brightness of the strobe to match the exposure of the camera. The UCS-Q1 has a very sufficient beam angle of 85° with the diffuser on.</p>

<p>You can activate the continuous light function (which has 3 power settings) with the left button. The different power settings can be adjusted by cycling through the button. The highest setting is at 700 lumens, which is bright enough for macro shots or even as an underwater torchlight. The continuous light also works as a focus light. Allowing for quicker focusing and determining the desired strobe position.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">AOI UCS-Q1 Ultra Compact Strobe: Simple design &amp; easy to use</h2>

<p>In keeping with the concept of “My First Strobe,” the simplicity aspect extends to the ownership experience and maintenance. The buttons and knobs are clearly labelled &#8211; making it easy for you to control the strobe, even with gloves on. The battery compartment is secured with a screw-on cap that is sealed with two O-rings to prevent accidental flooding. Should the battery compartment flood, it does not affect the electronic compartment as the two are kept separate. </p>

<p>The strobe is powered by two 18650 lithium batteries. That allows up to 2000 flashes on a single charge and provides consistent power delivery, even at low levels. The strobe is equipped with power stand-by and auto power-off features to conserve power and increase the lifespan of your strobe.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/AOI-q1-strobe-flash_2.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="598" src="https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/AOI-q1-strobe-flash_2-1024x598.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2554" srcset="https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/AOI-q1-strobe-flash_2-1024x598.jpg 1024w, https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/AOI-q1-strobe-flash_2-300x175.jpg 300w, https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/AOI-q1-strobe-flash_2-768x448.jpg 768w, https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/AOI-q1-strobe-flash_2-1536x897.jpg 1536w, https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/AOI-q1-strobe-flash_2.jpg 1624w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a></figure>

<p>Being an entry level strobe does not mean it has limited functions and features. The longevity of the UCS-Q1 is further extended by the inclusion of modeling flash function. This function will assist in the correct placement of the snoot when you used with the strobe. The modeling flash has to be activated manually. When triggered, it fires the strobe in high frequency for a short duration, giving the impression that the subject is lighted up. This allows you to visually confirm the snoot position and avoid having to shoot repeatedly to check if the snoot is positioned correctly. </p>

<p>An easy to use and affordable 3-aperture snoot is available as an optional accessory. Standard accessories of the strobe are: A diffuser, spare o-rings, silicone grease, o-ring remover, secure line, and a battery storage case (batteries are not included). A non-removable ball arm also comes attached to the strobe.</p>

<p>The Sony Alpha 1 impressed in many tests with a great speed and high resolution. Filmmakers are equally looking forward to videos in 8K resolution and neat slow motion at 120 fps in 4K. This camera is an absolute top camera with excellent technology, high performance and speed, and exceptionally good image quality. As an underwater photographer or filmer you surely want to protect your Sony camera from the elements with a high-quality and reliable<strong> Sony a1 underwater housing</strong>.</p>

<p>Let us show you two great options!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Nauticam NA-a1 Underwater Housing for Sony a1</strong></h2>

<p>In underwater photography, Nauticam is one of the best choices when it comes to housings and accessories and stands out from the competition with their reliant and great quality products.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/nauticam-sony-a1-underwater-housing-1.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="768" src="https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/nauticam-sony-a1-underwater-housing-1.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2539" srcset="https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/nauticam-sony-a1-underwater-housing-1.jpg 1024w, https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/nauticam-sony-a1-underwater-housing-1-300x225.jpg 300w, https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/nauticam-sony-a1-underwater-housing-1-768x576.jpg 768w, https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/nauticam-sony-a1-underwater-housing-1-125x94.jpg 125w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a><figcaption>Nauticam NA-a1 Housing for Sony a1 Camera</figcaption></figure>

<div class="wp-block-buttons aligncenter is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex">
<div class="wp-block-button"><a class="wp-block-button__link" href="https://fotografit.eu/products/305-nauticam-mil-housings/5258-nauticam-na-a1-housing-for-sony-a1-camera/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">BUY NOW</a></div>
</div>

<p>The new<strong> Nauticam NA-a1 underwater housing for Sony a1</strong> is no exception. The NA-α1 underwater housing provides fingertip access to all key camera controls. Ergonomic camera control access is one of the defining strengths of a Nauticam housing, and the NA-α1 continues this tradition.</p>

<p>Nauticam has supported the Sony Alpha full-frame line since the original a7. Their professional grade reliable aluminum housings offer intuitive access to all the controls and functions of the cameras. As the cameras have evolved, so have the Nauticam housings.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/nauticam-sony-a1-underwater-housing-2.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="768" src="https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/nauticam-sony-a1-underwater-housing-2.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2545" srcset="https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/nauticam-sony-a1-underwater-housing-2.jpg 1024w, https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/nauticam-sony-a1-underwater-housing-2-300x225.jpg 300w, https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/nauticam-sony-a1-underwater-housing-2-768x576.jpg 768w, https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/nauticam-sony-a1-underwater-housing-2-125x94.jpg 125w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a></figure>

<p>Nauticam&#8217;s wide range of ports and in-house corrective optics are the perfect compliment to the housings inherent flexibility. Built around the N100 port system, the NA-α1 supports a wide variety of Sony FE mount lenses, as well as EF mount lenses via adapters. In addition, there are several options available to use the groundbreaking <a href="https://fotografit.eu/products/206-wetlenses---nauticam/2486-nauticam-wacp---wide-angle-conversion-port/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">WACP</a> and <a href="https://fotografit.eu/products/206-wetlenses---nauticam/4180-wacp-2---057x-wide-angle-conversion-port---2---140-deg-fov-with-compatible-14mm-lenses/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">WACP-2</a> wide-angle corrective lenses as well as the more compact and in-water removable WWL-1B.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Ikelite Underwater Housing for Sony a1 Camera</strong></h2>

<p>This full featured and durable waterproof housing is made by <strong>Ikelite for your Sony Alpha 1 </strong>or a7S III full frame mirrorless digital camera. Suitable for scuba, snorkel, surf, pool, and any application in or around the water.&nbsp;</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/ikelite-sony-a1-underwater-housing.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="1024" src="https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/ikelite-sony-a1-underwater-housing-1024x1024.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2538" srcset="https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/ikelite-sony-a1-underwater-housing.jpg 1024w, https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/ikelite-sony-a1-underwater-housing-300x300.jpg 300w, https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/ikelite-sony-a1-underwater-housing-150x150.jpg 150w, https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/ikelite-sony-a1-underwater-housing-768x768.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a><figcaption>Ikelite 200DL Underwater Housing for Sony a1 and A7S III Mirrorless Digital Cameras</figcaption></figure>

<p>Good ergonomics are critical when you need to concentrate on composition, focus, and proper exposure. Large, curved control levers put the most important controls right where you need them: shutter and autofocus (via the AF-ON button).</p>

<p>This combination allows you to shoot with or without back button focus, an advanced technique that is useful for tack sharp focus of super macro and fast-moving subjects.</p>

<p>The camera mount is front-loading for easy installation and removal. A small mounting plate attaches to the bottom of the camera and secures in the front of the housing.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/ikelite-sony-a1-underwater-housing-1.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="1024" src="https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/ikelite-sony-a1-underwater-housing-1-1024x1024.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2540" srcset="https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/ikelite-sony-a1-underwater-housing-1.jpg 1024w, https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/ikelite-sony-a1-underwater-housing-1-300x300.jpg 300w, https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/ikelite-sony-a1-underwater-housing-1-150x150.jpg 150w, https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/ikelite-sony-a1-underwater-housing-1-768x768.jpg 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a></figure>

<p></p>

<p><strong>Tobias Friedrich</strong> is a well known and successful<strong> underwater photographer</strong> who has many years of experience, won several awards and his work was published in magazines and papers. This many years of experience from <strong>editing underwater images</strong> is in these<strong> Lightroom presets</strong>, which we would like to present to you here.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Get the most out of your underwater images</h2>

<p><strong>Tobias Friedrichs Lightroom presets for underwater photography</strong> is a workflow based set of modules. Step by step you can adjust your underwater images and find the right setting for each individual image very easily. The presets are a basic setup to get your underwater images postproduced as fast as possible into a great look. </p>

<p>This is a great start if you are new into underwater photography unsure how to edit your images in Lightroom as well as for more advanced photographers to give the images a good first draft and then continue to work from there.</p>

<p>Check out this video and let Tobias help you work the settings:</p>

<figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper">
<iframe loading="lazy" title="Lightroom Presets for Underwater Photographers with Tobias Friedrich" width="1616" height="909" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/12WA7SkGR_g?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1&#038;origin=https://blog.fotografit.eu" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe>
</div></figure>

<p>The presets contain one &#8220;standard&#8221; look to get your underwater images look great in a very quick way. Additionally there are various looks to tone your images and to create a different, more creative &#8220;look&#8221;.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Four different bundles for four different purposes</h2>

<p>At the moment, Tobias created four different sets of Lightroom presets for underwater photography: WIDE ANGLE, MACRO, GREEN WATER and BLACK &amp; WHITE.</p>

<p>That means you have four different styles to work with and that will help you to get the most out of your pictures.</p>

<p></p>

<p>Ikelite is making underwater lighting, housings and accessories for over 50 years now. Since their beginning, Ikelite keeps supplying us with innovative and high-quality products to take our photography to the next level.</p>

<p>With the new<strong> Ikelite <a href="http://In the Box Bulkhead with M16 threads Waterproof bulkhead cap # 9104.7 (installed)" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">ICS-5 bulkhead</a></strong> you will get the fastest and most reliable strobe triggering available for underwater photography. This bulkhead supports TTL or manual strobe exposure depending on the combination of camera system and accessories.<br>Simply add it to your underwater housing.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/ikelite-bulkhead-3.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="1024" src="https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/ikelite-bulkhead-3-1024x1024.jpg" alt="Ikelite ICS-5 bulkhead" class="wp-image-2417" srcset="https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/ikelite-bulkhead-3-1024x1024.jpg 1024w, https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/ikelite-bulkhead-3-300x300.jpg 300w, https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/ikelite-bulkhead-3-150x150.jpg 150w, https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/ikelite-bulkhead-3-768x768.jpg 768w, https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/ikelite-bulkhead-3.jpg 1280w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Ikelite ICS-5 bulkhead: Housing Compatibility</h2>

<p>The bulkhead is compatible with selected housings by Nauticam and other manufacturers featuring a spare M16 threaded accessory port. Hotshoe compatibility depends on manufacturer of the camera, the desired cable direction when looking from the back of the camera, and whether a compatible TTL converter is being used.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">TTL Strobe Exposure</h2>

<p>This bulkhead is able to provide TTL communication when you use it in a compatible system.<br>TTL (Through the Lens) is an automatic metering method for correct exposure with a flash. It evaluates the scene and transmits exposure information directly to the external flash. Each time you press the shutter button the camera will adjust the power of the external flash.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/ikelite-bulkhead-1.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="931" height="1024" src="https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/ikelite-bulkhead-1-931x1024.jpg" alt="Ikelite ICS-5 bulkhead" class="wp-image-2415" srcset="https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/ikelite-bulkhead-1-931x1024.jpg 931w, https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/ikelite-bulkhead-1-273x300.jpg 273w, https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/ikelite-bulkhead-1-768x844.jpg 768w, https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/ikelite-bulkhead-1.jpg 1187w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 931px) 100vw, 931px" /></a></figure>

<div class="wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex">
<div class="wp-block-button"><a class="wp-block-button__link" href="https://fotografit.eu/products/414-ikelite/5352-b16-ikelite-ics-5-bulkhead-with-m16-threads/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Buy Now</a></div>
</div>

<p>TTL exposure is not only faster but often more accurate than setting the flash output manually. It can make a difference between taking a properly exposed picture or not. TTL is by far the easiest way to shoot well exposed macro photography and allows you to concentrate on focusing and framing.</p>

<p>To be able to use TTL exposure, some requirements are necessary. You need a camera that is compatible, a TTL hotshoe as well as a DS Link TTL Converter. Also a current model of the Ikelite DS series strobes and an Ikelite-to-Ikelite single or dual sync cord are required. Refer to the table below for TTL hotshoe and converter availability by camera manufacturer.<br>TTL can even work on highly reflective subjects underwater, which can be one of the most challenging lighting scenarios.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">ICS-5 Plug and Bulkhead</h2>

<p>The ICS-5 bulkhead was designed by Ikelite as a more reliable and robust alternative to the fiddly Nikonos V film camera bulkhead. Unlike to Nikonos V (also known as N5) fittings, the ICS-5 connector system features more robust and larger gold-plated contacts. The half-moon indexing design is easy-to-see and makes it easy to orient and attach the plug connection quickly and correctly.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Sync Cord Compatibility</h2>

<p>We would recommend using this bulkhead only with newer sync cords featuring black hard anodized plug fittings with product numbers starting with the numbers &#8220;45.&#8221; Older nickel-plated brass sync cord fittings might damage the threads and seize up.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/ikelite-bulkhead-4.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1022" height="1024" src="https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/ikelite-bulkhead-4-1022x1024.jpg" alt="Ikelite ICS-5 bulkhead" class="wp-image-2418" srcset="https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/ikelite-bulkhead-4-1022x1024.jpg 1022w, https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/ikelite-bulkhead-4-300x300.jpg 300w, https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/ikelite-bulkhead-4-150x150.jpg 150w, https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/ikelite-bulkhead-4-768x769.jpg 768w, https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/ikelite-bulkhead-4.jpg 1280w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1022px) 100vw, 1022px" /></a></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Hotshoe and TTL Converter Compatibility</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-table"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>Camera</strong></td><td><strong>Direction</strong></td><td><strong>Pin Configuration</strong></td><td><strong>Hotshoe #</strong></td><td><strong>TTL Converter #</strong></td></tr><tr><td>CanonSony</td><td>Left</td><td>Manual</td><td>46071</td><td>&#8211;</td></tr><tr><td>Canon</td><td>Left</td><td>TTL</td><td>46073</td><td>46074</td></tr><tr><td>Nikon</td><td>Left</td><td>Manual</td><td>46065</td><td>&#8211;</td></tr><tr><td>Nikon</td><td>Left</td><td>TTL</td><td>46066</td><td>46051</td></tr><tr><td>Nikon</td><td>Right</td><td>Manual</td><td>46063</td><td>&#8211;</td></tr><tr><td>Nikon</td><td>Right</td><td>TTL</td><td>46064</td><td>46051</td></tr><tr><td>Olympus<br>Panasonic</td><td>Left</td><td>TTL</td><td>46030</td><td>46033</td></tr><tr><td>OlympusPanasonic</td><td>Right</td><td>TTL</td><td>46035</td><td>46033</td></tr><tr><td>Sony</td><td>Back</td><td>TTL</td><td>46041</td><td>46043</td></tr></tbody></table></figure>

<p>Get the most out of your <strong>GoPro HERO8 / HERO9</strong> camera with the new SD Front Mask from INON!</p>

<p>The <strong>INON SD Front Mask</strong> is an adapter that was specially developed for the GoPro. And, thanks to the bayonet system, enables you to use various INON lenses. The adapter fits the <strong>GoPro HERO8 / HERO9 waterproof protective housing</strong>.</p>

<p>Also, Inon released an <strong>M67 filter adapter</strong> for the front masks that you can use with M67 threaded mounts, including <strong>Inon&#8217;s variable red filter</strong>.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/inon-m67-adapter-on-gopro-hero9.png"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="906" height="339" src="https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/inon-m67-adapter-on-gopro-hero9.png" alt="" class="wp-image-2335" srcset="https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/inon-m67-adapter-on-gopro-hero9.png 906w, https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/inon-m67-adapter-on-gopro-hero9-300x112.png 300w, https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/inon-m67-adapter-on-gopro-hero9-768x287.png 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 906px) 100vw, 906px" /></a></figure>

<p>The SD Front Mask is equipped with the INON &#8220;SD Mount&#8221; bayonet system. With this, the INON UFL-G140 SD semi-fisheye lens or the UCL-G165 SD wide-angle macro lens can be easily and safely mounted or removed. These two lenses are specially developed for GoPro cameras and you can easily change them underwater.</p>

<p>Simply attach the SD mount to your GoPro so that you can use the wide-angle macro lens and the semi-fisheye wet lens. Inon developed both &#8211; the UFL-G140 SD and UCL-G165 SD &#8211; for underwater use only, so you cannot use them on land.<br>You can learn more about the two lenses here:</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">INON UCL-G165 SD Wide Close-up Lens</h2>

<p>An action camera is a deep-focus camera that does not require focusing. And yet, subjects that are very close to the camera (theoretically within a range of 60 cm) are not in focus. Therefore, they are less suitable for underwater macro shooting.</p>

<p>Using a standard macro lens for a compact digital camera would hardly improve the situation. It would lead to vignetting and a very shallow depth of field that would prevent comfortable focusing.</p>

<p>The UCL-G165 SD lens is a so-called &#8220;Wide Close-Up lens&#8221;. This wide-angle macro lens was specially developed for action cameras based on their optical characteristics.</p>

<p>Thanks to the UCL-G165, you can photograph and film objects underwater with your GoPro that is in a depth of field of about 5 to 35 cm. Also, the GoPro&#8217;s angle of view is increasing from around 94 ° to around 110 °. Therefore the lens offers ideal coverage and an improved distance for capturing marine life.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">INON UFL-G140 Semi-fisheye Conversion Lens</h2>

<p>The semi-fisheye lens &#8220;UFL-G140SD&#8221; enlarges the angle of view underwater and minimizes the shooting distance drastically.</p>

<p>An action camera already comes with an ultra-wide-angle lens. But the coverage underwater is dramatically reduced due to the different refraction ratios between air and water. For example, the maximum angle of the GoPro HERO8 / HERO9 on land is approx. 151 °. Underwater this angle reduces to only about 94 °.</p>

<p>The INON UFL-G140 SD counteracts this effect and offers extremely wide semi-fisheye imaging with an angle of view of approx. 140 ° underwater.</p>

<p>Nauticam has presented its <strong>underwater housing for the A7C</strong>, the new mirrorless camera with a full-frame sensor from Sony.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Sony Alpha 7C Features</h3>

<p>This camera offers underwater photographers one of the most compact and travel-friendly full-screen systems currently available on the market. The camera is just 124 x 71.1 x 59.7 mm in size and weighs only 424 grams (including battery and memory card 509 g).</p>

<p>The A7C features Sony&#8217;s latest outstanding autofocus and significantly improved battery life thanks to the larger Z-series battery. The BIONZ X processor offers excellent low-light performance and faster image processing. Videographers can record 4K videos at 30 frames per second, HD videos at 120 fps. </p>

<p>Nauticam lives up to its reputation as one of the “fastest” underwater housing companies. Just a few months after the introduction of the camera, an underwater housing from the world market leader for high-quality aluminum housings is available!</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/17429-Nauticam-Sony-A7C-housing-13.wm.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="768" src="https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/17429-Nauticam-Sony-A7C-housing-13.wm-1024x768.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2378" srcset="https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/17429-Nauticam-Sony-A7C-housing-13.wm-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/17429-Nauticam-Sony-A7C-housing-13.wm-300x225.jpg 300w, https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/17429-Nauticam-Sony-A7C-housing-13.wm-768x576.jpg 768w, https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/17429-Nauticam-Sony-A7C-housing-13.wm-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/17429-Nauticam-Sony-A7C-housing-13.wm-125x94.jpg 125w, https://blog.fotografit.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/17429-Nauticam-Sony-A7C-housing-13.wm.jpg 1600w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">The new Nauticam underwater housing for Sony A7C</figcaption></figure>

<div class="wp-block-button"><a class="wp-block-button__link wp-element-button" href="https://fotografit.eu/products/305-nauticam-mil/5252-nauticam-a7c-housing-for-sony-a7c-camera/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Buy Now</a></div>
</div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Nauticam Underwater Housing for Sony A7C</h3>

<p>The <strong>Nauticam underwater housing for the Sony A7C</strong>, like its “siblings” in the entire A7 series, will work with the N100 port system from Nauticam. This means photographers can use a large number of modern Sony lenses. Above all, with the corresponding Metabones adapter, a wide range of EF mount lenses can also be attached.</p>

<p>Thanks to Nauticam&#8217;s &#8220;Mission Control&#8221; design philosophy, all essential controls of the <strong>NA-A7C</strong> are exactly where you need them. The intuitive, clearly labeled placement of buttons and handles enables ergonomic operation &#8211; even with thick gloves.</p>

<p>Like many newer Nauticam housings, the NA-A7C has a large-bore M24 opening to support HDMI 2.0. Which allows you to connect an external <a href="https://fotografit.eu/products/195-nauticam/2689-na-ninja-v-housing-for-atomos-ninja-v---5-inch-4k-monitor/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ninja V from Atomos</a> recorder.</p>

<p>An oversized twist-lock seals the housing and locks securely into place without the risk of accidental opening. The <strong>Nauticam vacuum testing and leak warning system</strong> are also included as standard. In combination with an optional <a href="https://fotografit.de/produkte/162-vakuum-systeme/2290-m14-vakuumventil-ii/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">vacuum valve</a>, this monitoring system offers constant updates of the waterproof and submersible status of the housing. A simple coded LED lighting system indicates to the user that the vacuum is solid or that the housing is losing vacuum.</p>

<p>Known for unique experience, Nauticam has become groundbreaking in magnifying viewfinders, or in having&nbsp;the sharpest super macro accessories lenses. Their high quality water contact wide angle lenses (<a href="https://fotografit.eu/products/206-wetlenses---nauticam/1882-nauticam-wet-wide-lens-wwl-1/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">WWL-1</a> and <a href="https://fotografit.eu/products/206-wetlenses---nauticam/4180-wacp-2---057x-wide-angle-conversion-port---2---140-deg-fov-with-compatible-14mm-lenses/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">WACP-1</a>) in combination with the NA-A7C housing form an imaging system that is not only complete but makes it one of the best out there.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The great quality of Nauticam is known among underwater photographers and videographers around the world. The housings are made from solid aluminum blocks and then anodized, therefore they are insensitive to saltwater corrosion.</p>

<p>Nauticam has given more mirrorless cameras and more Sony E mount cameras a “home” than any other housing manufacturer. Years of experience have resulted in one of the largest, highest quality selections of underwater housing available today.</p>

<p>Our sessions will usually be streamed <strong>live on our Facebook page</strong>. So make sure to follow us and hit the like button so you&#8217;ll get notified: <a href="https://www.facebook.com/FOTOGRAFIT" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><strong>https://www.facebook.com/FOTOGRAFIT</strong></a></p>

<p>We would love to hear from you if you have interesting subjects that you´d like us to talk about.</p>

<p>Regularly we will do a Q&amp;A-LIVE SESSION. The session will be around 60 minutes long and typically consists of:</p>

<p><strong>&#8211; product news<br>&#8211; review of pictures<br>&#8211; picture techniques<br>&#8211; news from the business<br>&#8211; questions from the LIVE audience<br>&#8211; pre-sent questions<br>&#8230;and we will typically have one or two short talks to some of our ambassadors.</strong></p>

<p><strong>So don´t hesitate to send us a picture for review, a question with something that puzzles you or similar.</strong></p>
