Review of Nauticam Underwater Housing for New Canon EOS R5
Hardly any other camera has been so eagerly awaited as the Canon EOS R5 – the latest version of Canon’s full-frame mirrorless cameras. The highlights of the new camera include, among other things, the 45-megapixel resolution, the excellent image stabilization, and an amazing continuous shooting speed (20 images per second).
Also, the R5 can record 8K RAW videos with up to 30fps and 4K with up to 120fps. That makes it one of the first mirrorless cameras to allow RAW videos. The R5 automatically detects faces and eyes (even animal eyes) and focuses them.
Canon has equipped the handy camera with great technology that not only delights professional photographers.
Underwater Photography with the Canon EOS R5
Underwater photographers and videographers do not have to wait any longer for the possibility of using the Canon R5 underwater. The new underwater housing for the Canon EOS R5 from Nauticam has recently been launched… And is also available at FOTOGRAFIT, of course!
The underwater housing has all the amenities that Nauticam is known for. Such as a compact and ergonomic design, a lot of functionality, solid and high-quality workmanship, durability, and user-friendly operation.
As usual with Nauticam underwater housings, the photographer can use all functions of the camera. It is even possible to use the older EF lenses on the Canon EOS R5. Because the R5 is more compact and slightly smaller than, for example, the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV, the Nauticam housing is smaller and lighter as well. That is particularly advantageous when traveling.
In addition to the Nauticam underwater housing for the Canon EOS R5, you will get a padded housing bag including a shoulder strap, two optical bulkhead caps, two handles with mounting balls, a set of Allen keys, a battery for the leak detector as well as spare O-rings and lubricant.
So you are well equipped for your first dive with the Canon EOS R5.
Reviewing the new Canon with Nicolai Deutsch
With filmmaker Nicolai Deutsch we talked a while ago about the advantages of the two new Canon cameras EOS R5 / EOS R6. And we discussed the differences to other models.
We also talked about various underwater lenses and wet lenses that would be good to use with these two cameras in underwater photography. Not only would Nauticam’s WACP series be a good choice, but some of the new RF lenses are very interesting as well…
You can watch the entire conversation about the new Canon EOS R5 and R6 and the possibilities that it brings for underwater photography in the following video.
Canon EOS R5 vs. Sony A7SIII
On another occasion we talked about the differences between the two new underwater housings from Nauticam for the TOP camera rivals: Canon EOS R5 and Sony A7SIII. Together we take a close look at both housings, show you the differences, and see how Nauticam prepared for these two cameras.
We also talk about possible lens options, monitor solutions, and much more…
