About Luís
Luís Campos is a Portuguese underwater photographer and PADI diving instructor who has been teaching diving since 2008. Over the years, he has combined his passion for the ocean with an increasingly strong focus on underwater photography.
He began competing in underwater photography in 2017 and finished as Vice Champion of the Portuguese Nationals in his first competitive season. Since then, competition photography has become an important part of his work and development.
Luís became Portuguese National Champion in Underwater Photography in 2019 and again in 2024. He also won the 9th MARES Underwater Photo Marathon overall, as well as the Cup of Nations and Best of Show at the 8th MARES Underwater Photo Marathon.
At the 2021 CMAS World Championship in Porto Santo, he represented Portugal for the first time. All four of his submitted images placed in the top 15, including a 4th place in the Wide Angle with Diver category. His model was also named Best Model of the competition.
At the 2025 CMAS World Championship in L’Estartit, Spain, Luís won the Gold Medal in the Fish category. He also achieved two 4th places in Wide Angle with Diver and Creative, while his model was once again awarded Best Model of the competition.
In October 2026, he is due to represent Portugal again at the next CMAS World Championship in Bali, Indonesia.
